A Federal Jury Convicted Buju Banton On Cocaine Charges

buju_banton_guilty_prison_reggae_grammy.jpgGrammy-winning reggae artiste Buju Banton was convicted for attempting to purchase $135,000 worth of cocaine in 2009.

Mr. Mark Myrie aka Buju Banton was found guilty on all three of cocaine charges but was however acquitted of the gun charge.

The Tampa courtroom was at full capacity today while both lawyers gave their closing arguments. Meanwhile those who couldn't make it in the courtroom stayed joined hands in the hallway praying for a not guilty verdict.

According to the Associate Press: Buju Banton stated "I'm fighting for my freedom…I'm fighting for my life."

Assistant U.S. Attorney James Preston told the jury on Thursday that Banton portrayed himself as a broker of drug deals in several conversations with a confidential informant.

"This is not about Buju Banton, the reggae singer," Preston said. "This is about Mark Myrie, the drug defendant."

Preston said Banton thought he was getting involved in a "no-risk" deal in which he would introduce a friend to a confidential informant, and then later collect money from drug transactions.

"The defendant saw this as a no-risk opportunity," said Preston.
Much of the case hinges on meetings and phone calls that were video and audiotaped by the confidential informant, who was working with the Drug Enforcement Administration - and who made $50,000 in commission after the bust.

How D usa is funny the man on the plane going about is own business next thing the real drugs dealer entise him and trap him now the man behind bars when he actually wasn't on the block selling drugs what sort of country is this where's the moral where's the common sense it should be illegal to trap and ordinary man like this surely.. He has no previous conviction of selling drugs so surely this is a load of fraud man getting paid $50, 000 to trap another man...

the people them who judge buju dont have no right to judge no black man. america and the european world in general is the most criminal of all criminal they are the one who is responsible for all drug trades legal and illegal. buju is a great black man who probably got mislead like most of us, he is a victim of the system and he is nothing compare to this evil wicked beast called america.
we still love buju but this is a sign for black people to wake and fight and overcome white supremacy

White girl gets in an accident and kills her boyfriend due to driving under the influence here in Houston and only gets three months behind bars. Her attorney tried to pass it off as if it was the guy which she hit from the rear fault. Little was said in the entire case of her intoxication. The courts waited for her to finish with her semester for that school year before she could start spending her three months and on top of that she was not going to be in general population while in jail. The best part of it is that her dad is a big time judge here in Texas and yet they have the balls to say there was no preferential treatment.
Please note justice here in America and many other countries is not and never have been equal. Justice is the color and weight of the money you have or who you know or is related too and that’s the real. Buju she have know better, America (the gay and sensitive side of it) wanted his head from a long time ago for his music. The moment this so said deal came his way he should have ran in the other direction and that’s the real.

Tony Rebel, You love the media lights too much!!!!! You and Jimmy Riley with your jet black dyed hair need to go sit down and consider your age and what rasta means. Proverbs 16v31:"Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is found in the way of righteousness."

How come a paid informant ended up on the same flight as Buju, and not only that, he ha penned to be seated beside him, no coincidence.Us a Babylon, is them the Bible speak about, present day Babylon. They pass their law for Gay's, look how many of their celebrities are gay/lesbian, look on Elton John, he and him man let a a woman have a baby for them,ol toilet shit.
But if Us can invade Irag, saying Saddam has weapon of mass destruction, despite the other Un counties disagreeing, then what you think they can do to Buju.Gay's have a lot of power, they cause shows to be canceled and all these things.Look how they set the retrial for valentine's day b**tyman day.
