"Mi waan richer dan Matalan" - Tuff Enuff

Tuff Enuff was born Devon Martin Jnr. in the tough Kingston neighbourhood of Vineyard Town, where he spent his early years before moving to St James in his teens. It was while attending Cambridge Comprehensive High that Devon's love for music grew, writing his own music and performing at every school talent show that took place at the school, attracting rave reviews from his peers.

Drawing upon such wide-ranging influences as Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel, Aidonia and the legendary Alton Ellis, the young Devon took elements from each of them and formulized them into his own unique persona.

Encouraged to pursue a career in music, Tuff Enuff returned to Kingston after five years, taking up residency in Fletcher's Land where he hustled to make a living. Music was always at the front of his mind and he was present at every community dance and stage show showcasing his skills.

It was whilst performing at Fletchers Land Jamboree he was dubbed Tuff Enuff because of his delivery and lyrical flow.

"I takes everyday happenings and life experiences and retell them," says Tuff Enuff. "I've been through the struggle so the majority of people can always relate to my music."

Tuff Enuff became well known in his community but his big break came when he met up with Country who introduced him to Liv Up Records. Always present at the studio, Tuff Enuff recorded his first single "Whe Dem a Fight Mi Fa?" on the Liv Up riddim, a song speaking about some of the trials he had faced in his life.

He became an official Liv Up Records Artist not long after and recorded the single "More Money" on their hugely popular Good Life riddim. He recently followed that up with "Time fi Get the Money" on Fire Link's Street Team riddim.

Having cut his teeth on such stages as West Kingston Jamboree and Champions in Action, known for their highly critical patrons, Tuff Enuff is rounded and confident in all aspects of the business. With his debut video recently premiering on TVJ's Entertainment Report and a slew of singles about to be released, he is on the verge of being a force to be reckoned with!
