Fyah Muma', Queen Ifrica sets Tortola ablaze!

The 'fyah muma', Queen Ifrica, recently returned from a blazing hot performance at the BVI Music festival, held at the Cane Garden Bay Beach in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, last week.

There, the female sing-jay delivered a healthy dose of her popular songs, as she performed favourites from her upcoming 'Montego Bay' album, like Coconut Shell, Lioness On The Rise, Daddy (original version) and Daddy (in Spanish), which earned her the biggest forward for the night.

Queen Ifrica, who had entered the stage at 11pm, paused during her fiery set and asked the audience if she could sing in Spanish, the response, a resounding "yes"! She started the first verse and it was pulled up at least five times, as screams went on for at least a minute.

Keep It To Yourself was her final tune and the audience sang as Queen Ifrica left the stage. Despite their cry for more, the time just didn't permit.

Other acts to have graced the stage included the likes of Sizzla, Serani and Daddy Yankee.

In the meantime, Queen Ifrica continues to maintain a strong presence on local and international charts, as her Far Away single is sitting in the #8 position on the Hype TV Top 10 Reggae Music Chart and is at #19 on the Top 20 Reggae Singles Chart. In addition, Queen Ifrica’s Lioness On The Rise has climbed to the #2 spot on the South Florida Top 25 Reggae Singles Chart and is currently in the #4 position on the New York Reggae Chart.

With the video for Queen Ifrica's Lioness On The Rise premiering just last Friday (June 5th) on RETV, much more success on local and international charts is expected from the single.

Queen Ifrica also has a number of upcoming appearances scheduled for weeks to come, as she and her staff will travel to New York to do a week of press promotions on her upcoming debut album, 'Montego Bay'. She will also be doing a U.S. tour along with Tony Rebel and Fyakin in July.

Since her musical career soared to new heights after teaming up with veteran reggae singer/producer Tony Rebel, back in 1998, the soulful queen has not looked back, as she continues to rule the dancehall with her stirring mix of spiritually empowering anthems, lover's rock tunes and searing social commentaries.

Now, all attention is focused on Queen Ifrica's much anticipated, dynamic debut album for VP Records, 'Montego Bay', which is due for release on June 16.
