Behind scenes of Delus' 'Informer' video shoot

Kon-Vick Writer

Newcomer to the dancehall arena, Delus, born Delmark St. Aubyn Spence Jr. shot his first solo video for the hard-hitting single Informer last Sunday at several locations across the Corporate Area.

The Sherlock Gardens resident was in a jubilant mood as he took directions from videographer Simeon, who boasts a credible portfolio. Simeon has worked on high profile videos including Barbee and Junior Kelly’s Missing You, Lutan Fyah’s De La Vega, Hollow Point’s Sitting by my Window, and several others.

According to Simeon, the song is self-explanatory and therefore the video has to have some additional drama that will captivate its audience.

News Brief understands that Jamaica’s #1 dancehall artiste Beenie Man who recently planned on settling his taxes with the government has now decided to fight the charges as the deejay strongly believe he should not be penalized for an error created by his former Management Team (Shocking Vibes).

In recent reports it is stated that the controversial deejay owes the country J$47-million (US$ 661, 00) in taxes.

In October last year (2007) a warrant was issued for the arrest of Beenie Man after he failed to appear in court to answer to several tax evasion charges.

Guyanese Government bans Mavado and Bounty Killer

Alliance leader Bounty Killer and Gangsta for Life Mavado have been black listed by the Guyanese government. According to Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee both artistes are banned from entering the country after the Bharrat Jagdeo administration suggested their track records are plagued with violence.

The banned was imposed after a recent performance by Bounty Killer who headlined a show that was disrupted by angry patrons due to a lengthy delay of show time which then followed by scores of alleged gun shots.

Rolling Stone Magazine Named Mavado Best Reggae Artiste Since Bob Marley

mavado-gangsta-alliance-bountykiller.jpgIt is evident that Jamaica's dancehall artiste Mavado's career has been facing a chain of mix-reactions ("good & bad"). But this time around it's 100% good news as the Gangsta was listed as "Best New Reggae Artiste" on Rolling Stone Magazine list of “The 125 Plus People, Places and Things Ruling The Rock and Roll Universe.”

According to EVAN SERPICK (Associate Editor), "If you think reggae died with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, think again. Jamaica's latest star, Mavado, combines hip-hop-influenced beats with ominous minor-key vocals about street life and salvation. "I started singing when I was four or five years old, and people always wanted me to sing more," says Mavado, who grew up in Cassava Piece, a rough dirt-road section of Kingston.

Wesley Snipes Gets 3 Years in Jail

wesley_snipes_prison.jpgcounts of evasion still comes with a hefty price: The actor on Thursday (April 24) was sentenced to three years in prison and fined up to $5 million, the maximum punishment possible under federal guidelines.

Though Snipes had escaped more serious charges that he'd been part of a scheme to defraud the IRS with bogus refund claims - a jury accepted his argument that he had innocently taken bad advice by questionable advisers - prosecutors urged U.S. District Judge William Hodges in Ocala, Florida, to hand out a tough sentence for the misdemeanors, and thus demonstrate to taxpayers that no one is exempt from paying up. (The IRS says Snipes had not filed taxes at all from 1999-2004.) ''The fact that Snipes was acquitted on two felony charges and convicted 'only' on three misdemeanor counts has been portrayed in the mainstream media as a 'victory' for Snipes,'' a 35-page government argument read, citing Snipes' ''brazen defiance'' of tax laws. ''The troubling implication of such coverage for the millions of average citizens who are aware of this case is that the rich and famous Wesley Snipes has 'gotten away with it.' In the end, the criminal conduct of Snipes must not be seen in such a light.''

Five sex questions with Zumjay - "It's my job to make sure she's satisfied"
Most men believed hours of sex make them a good lover - is this true on your path?

First thing, hours of sex does not necessarily make you a good lover. Knowing your partner is one of the most important things. So if my partner like it that way then it’s my job to make sure she’s satisfied.
What's the best thing a girl has ever said to you during or after sex?

She told me that I am the best and cried tears of joy.
What's your favorite sex position and why?

My favourite sex position is when my partner is on top because I get to see and feel more of her.

Wesley Snipes Facing Jail For Tax Fraud

wesley_snipes_mugshotjail.jpgHollywood star Wesley Snipes will learn later whether he is to be sentenced to three years in prison for tax fraud.

The star of the Blade Vampire films has been called before a federal court for failure to file his taxes.

In February, Snipes was acquitted of five out of eight counts - including felony fraud and conspiracy charges - which each carried up to five years in prison.

But the action star was convicted of three lesser charges of willful failure to file a return.

Prosecutors are pressing for the maximum sentence, saying they want the court to make an example of a "notorious" and "inveterate" offender.

The government has said he owes more than £1.3m.

Snipes' lawyers say he deserves only probation for his crimes, and have submitted three dozen letters from friends attesting to his character.

Those coming to his aid included actors Denzel Washington and Woody Harrelson.

Getting to know April Jackson - Miss Jamaica Universe 2008

By Kon-Vick Writer

april-jackson-miss-jamaica-universe2008-photos-negril.jpgIt was obvious from the second I met April Jackson in the parking lot at Market Place, St. Andrew, why she won the coveted Ms. Jamaica Universe title two Saturdays ago at the National Indoor Sports Centre. She sported a warm smile and a jubilant vibe, and her eloquence speaks volume against persons who brand beauty pageant entrants as ‘pretty dunce.’

She arrived at the scheduled interview with members of her family, including her ever-supportive father who stormed the stage when she was announced the winner. In the judges mind April stood out most among the twenty-five (25) contestants. Her beauty is striking and her articulation flawless.

However, April is no stranger to the limelight as she was the winner of the Ms. Jamaica UK Pageant 2006. Nevertheless, as we sat to have a drink she was keen to point out that the two pageants are not the same. They both give her the opportunity to represent Jamaica, however, one more internationally than the other.

Like any living human, April was thrilled at winning the competition and even shared kind words with those who thought she was not the correct option.

“I totally appreciate that a lot of persons considered Doneika Plowright as their favourite. She is a nice person and I knew of this from the one month we spent together preparing for this competition. I am more than willing to gain the respect of those who did not consider me their winner.” She then went on to justify the judges’ decision: “The judges have seen us on a more intimate level than the audience therefore they are more equipped to make the final decision,” she told

50 Cent 'don't like Alicia Keys no more'

50cent-aliciakeys-hatephotosrapper.jpgRecently singer Alicia Keys stirred a hornet's nest with her poorly worded remarks regarding Gangsta rap and who was "to blame" for it.

Keys' comments were published in Blender Magazine about Gangsta rap being "a ploy to convince black people to kill each other." She alluded that it was mainstream media, the record industry and those in power that sanctioned and permitted it to flourish, as if rappers themselves were puppet-like and had no free will.

After a firestorm of negative press, Alicia subsequently released a statement saying her comments were "misrepresented" and that she isn't a "conspiracy theorist" or "a racist."

Blender magazine is standing by their reporting.

50 Cent isn't buying it and told The Showbuzz:

"I don't like Alicia Keys no more though … the same reason why I said that I don't like Oprah Winfrey. I'm prejudice(d). I don't like people who don't like me. If you don't like the content that I write because of my experiences; I am being who I am when I am writing it. I fall into that 'label' as far as you considering artists creating 'Gangsta music,' we fall into that.

Harry Toddler hits back - "None A Dem Wi Nuh Fear Dem"

By Crazy Katty Writer

harry-toddler-blonde-ras-monstershack.jpgHarry Toddler, A.K.A. Blonde Ras has been holding his tongue for awhile, despite words thrown at him by the Monster Empire, but he’s not holding his words anymore.
He recently went into studios and voiced a steamy counteraction to the Monster Empire’s song on the 90s rhythm produced by Suku from Ward 21.
In the Monster Empire’s song, they poked fun at Harry Toddler about Killer throwing Hennessey in his face and the now infamous “juk him in di eye”. The Monster Empire also boasted that “nuh bowy” could never dream of doing such brutal act to any of the members in Monster Empire.

Harry Toddler had already been enjoying multiply spins on the airwaves, but this counteraction seems to have sent it in overdrive as it became a hit in the dancehall on its first night of play.

“I can’t understand why they (Monster Empire) would rejoice over a situation like that - suh mi just retaliate and mek them know seh man a nuh walk over and them lyrical content is nothing near to my writing skills,” Toddler explains.
“So me not even ago pay no more attention to them because mi nuh have time fi go toe to toe with weak fence,”
he told

Cocoa Tea In Support of Barack Obama

cocoatea_reggaeartiste_jamaica.jpg“Its not class, race or creed but what the people need” are the words of the reggae veteran, Cocoa Tea, in his song titled Barack Obama in support of the Illinois Senator’s vision to make a change in the United States via the presidential portfolio.

“Obama has been able to get people from all walks of life…young and old and beyond racial boundaries to participate in the US electoral process and with Jah guidance I was inspired to add a voice to the movement” was Coco Tea’s response to what inspired him to pen the words of the song. He commented that his inspiration from “the most high” allowed him to conceptualize the song in a short period of time without actually writing down the lyrics.

Cocoa Tea further states that the support that “Obama is receiving from the younger generation is noticeable because usually when young people cry out for change…it comes.” He is now in the process of planning the video shoot in New York for the song Barack Obama later this month.

The feud began at Pashion Sundayz between Bounty Killer and Harry Toddler a.k.a. Blonde Ras. From there it took a turn for the worse when the Monster Empire voiced a song on the 90s Rhythm defining the situation; “Nuh bowy (Bounty) caan juk out mi eye like Harry Toddler.” The song, produced by Suku from Ward 21, got the Killer cross, angry, and miserable.

It is said that Bounty Killer heard the song and got upset over the situation and immediately recorded a counteraction that targeted the Empire. Both songs have being getting crazy rotation on the airwaves and this has pushed the situation to a boiling point.

Sexy Model Tiffanie - I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman Model of The Week

Tiffanie describes her self with this peom - 'Phenomenal Woman'

sexymodel-tiffanie.jpg"Phenomenal Woman" Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size But when I start to tell them, They think I'm telling lies. I say, It's in the reach of my arms The span of my hips, The stride of my step, The curl of my lips. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me. I walk into a room Just as cool as you please, And to a man, The fellows stand or Fall down on their knees. Then they swarm around me, A hive of honey bees.

I say, It's the fire in my eyes, And the flash of my teeth, The swing in my waist, And the joy in my feet. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me. Men themselves have wondered What they see in me. They try so much But they can't touch My inner mystery. When I try to show them They say they still can't see. I say, It's in the arch of my back, The sun of my smile, The ride of my breasts, The grace of my style. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me. Now you understand Just why my head's not bowed. I don't shout or jump about Or have to talk real loud. When you see me passing It ought to make you proud. I say, It's in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair, the palm of my hand, The need of my care, 'Cause I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me.

Morgan Heritage release new album "Mission in Progress"

Morgansheritage_reggaegroup_jamaica.jpgNew York, NY--Morgan Heritage, one of the most influential reggae bands today, will be releasing their highly anticipated 10th album MISSION IN PROGRESS.

Renowned worldwide for their riveting live shows, Morgan's Heritage's new release captures the band bottling the power of its stage performance on disc and infusing its songs with a heavier dose of hip-hop. Produced by Morgan Heritage (with a few songs helmed by Shane Brown and Stephen McGregor son of reggae singer Freddy McGregor), MISSION IN PROGRESS lyrically finds the group continuing their quest to bolster their love for reggae music through romantic, street-wise and conscious songs built on slabs of spirituality. Musically however, MISSION IN PROGRESS is the realization of Morgan Heritage’s “ROCKAZ” concept: reggae music with an edge.

"I think this record is the most aggressive one that we've ever done both musically and personally," says vocalist/keyboardist Una Morgan. "A lot of our inner feelings from growing up in the industry and the experiences that we’ve had touring the world, specifically in Africa, are reflected here and served as the inspiration for this album.”

Keyshia Cole shines at Miss Jamaica Universe 2008

By Crazy Katty Writer

Grammy award nominated R&B sensation Keyshia Cole gave a stunning performance at last weekend’s Miss Jamaica Universe 2008 pageant staged at the National Indoor Sports Centre, Kingston.

The moment the R&B beauty took to the stage those in the VIP area had their status taken over by other zealous fans who bombarded the same. Several of the patrons who held regular tickets flocked to the front of stage leaving those in VIP with the sole option of standing on their seats in order to see Keyshia Cole’s live performance.

Keyshia Cole performed with a live band, and her dancer added glitz to her wonderful performance. The harmony from her two back up singers was nothing short of breathtaking. She did all her hits that her fans came to hear such as, ‘I Changed My Mind’, ‘Just Like You’, ‘Shoulda Let You Go’, ‘I Remember’, ‘Give It Up’ and ‘Last Night’. But when Keyshia Cole sang the first few words to introduce the song ‘Love,’ the patrons went haywire. Their reaction was so loud that it drowned out Keyshia Cole’s vocals. The audience performed the song for her as she just sang along to keep them on track.

The beautiful 18-year-old April Jackson was crowned Miss Jamaica Universe 2008.

The single was done on the Substancial Records Label, while the video was directed by Stereo Belly, with Lukington responsible for editing it.

The track, Too Bad Mind, is a well-written and delivered single that will captivate its listener. It instantly grabs one attention, as it possesses some Rastafarian sentiments and promotes positivity. The harmony will capture you and make you want to listen the song over and over again.

Dangerous’ name may sound threatening, however, he is simply a hardcore deejay that has adopted the singjay format of delivering his ever-positive lyrical content. In the single, Dangerous openly scold bad-minded people with some of the lyrics as we have outlined below:

You don’t know me like that,
So why are you passing false judgment?
A man has to do what a man has to do to survive.

Why you want to see I go down (go down)
Why you want to see your brother drown?

April Jackson is Miss Jamaica Universe 2008, But patrons angry with judges' decision

By Crazy Katty Writer

Mixed emotions ripped through the National Indoors Centre last Saturday night at the prestigious Miss Jamaica Universe 2008 when the judges announced Doneika Plowright as the first runner-up. When Ms. Plowright, who was the crowd’s favourite, was no longer in the position of going home with the crown tension brewed in the audience, especially after April Jackson was handed the crown by last years’ winner Zara Redwood.

The ever present Eurocentric and Afro-centric look again played on the emotions of the crowd, many of whom was biased towards the contestants they believed look more like a typical Jamaican woman.

With hostility lingering in the air, the team decided to get the opinion of some of the patrons.

According to Yvette, an avid fan of the competition: “mi did want the girl with the afro (Doneika Plowright) to win because it would be fitting for Zara Redwood to hand over the crown to her because she looks more like a Jamaican.” The angry patron went on to say, “Everytime a some long hair girl them give the crown,” she told

iTunes Canada pulls anti-gay dancehall songs

iTunes Canada has removed several songs with anti-gay lyrics from its online store, in response to a campaign led by Egale and Stop Murder Music.

The songs - by Jamaican dancehall artists Buju Banton, Elephant Man and TOK - contain lyrics that advocate the killing of gays.

"iTunes is exercising its corporate responsibility by pulling this murder music and raising the bar for other retailers and distributors to do the same," says Akim Larcher, founder of SMM. He calls iTune's decision a victory for the gay community in Canada and in the Caribbean.

Egale and SMM wrote to iTunes in January, asking for homophobic tracks to be removed from the online store. They noted three songs that promoted violence against gays, and those tracks have now been removed.

Five sex questions with Tifa - "I had sex in the traffic"
Does the size of a man d*ck matters to you?

No, but then again. I have always been on the lucky side, to find the ones that are just right. I don’t like them too big.
Do you believe in using sex toys, if your man is not around?

But of course! Usually for me a man is not around. I have been basically single for the past 3 years. So instead of adding up numbers, why not? Besides, most men cant vibrate.
During sex do you like it when your man is in control or do you prefer to be in charge?

It depends. I love it when a man knows his stuff and can take control and make me feel like as if I am in one of those romance novels, or one of them real black porno movies. But sometimes I like to move in for the kill, and take risks. It makes for a healthy sex life, especially when you are in a long term relationship. You cant rely on the man to do everything.

The Trio also voiced “Holding On” (track 14) “Pirates Anthem” (track 15) that was a mega worldwide reggae hit of the same year.

My first impression of this album was “oldies but goodies.” This album gives a diverse collection of Cocoa Tea’s greatest hit songs. It is definitely a must have for all the Cocoa Tea and reggae dancehall fans. My personal favorite “Tune In” (track number eight (8) Disc one (1)) gave high definition to one of the sickest rhythm of all time ‘Far East’. It was the title of one of his previous albums, which was released under the Greensleeves - Munich label. This song illustrates the rocking groove of the dancehall setting prior to the 21st Century.

"A Wha Some Boy a Pree We Fah" - Zumjay

By Kon-Vick Writer

Since Michael Rutherford gave Zumjay his studio cameo at Dynamic Studio in the early 90s, he has not looked back. This is evident in his latest effort Pree We Fah on the Crusha Rhythm produced by Maxie (Mr. X) Kerr.

There is unrelenting evidence that Zumjay has matured on the track Pree We Fah. His unique delivery and hard-hitting lyrics were testimony of this maturity. The lyrical content was well organized and the deejay’s voice synchronizes well with the top class produced rhythm.

Although Zumjay got a bit on the violent side, it was a sideline addition as the song focused primarily on independence. The line “spend we own money nah drink nuh free liquor…” talks of this independence and although someone was attacked in the line “move from out of mi face before mi use mi Hennessey wet yuh up…”, it still talked about independence when one look at the beverage being imbibed.

Computer Paul Is Still Making Hits

By Ralston Barrett
Freelance Writer

Computer_Paul.jpgMany people might be wondering what has musician/producer Paul Henton aka Computer Paul been up to lately. It would seem as if the talented rhythm maker whose credits includes such memorable Dancehall rhythms such as "The Frog", "Corduroy" & "M16" along with chart topping hits such as Jimmy Cliff's "I Can See Clearly Now", Inner Circle's "Sweat" & "Bad Boys", Sizzla's "No Time To Gaze" & George Nooks rendition of "God Is Standing By" has disappeared from the local music scene. However that is far from the truth as Computer Paul is still very active, working on several projects as a musician for other producers both locally and abroad.

Recently Computer Paul received a platinum plaque for his work on Hip Hop/R&B superstar Akon's multi-platinum album "Konvicted". Current projects for the in demand musician includes an album with 1990s female Dancehall star "Queen Of The Pack" Patra, who is now once again signed to a major label. There is another heart thumping rhythm coming out soon on his Boot Camp label titled "Hypocrites", which is already generating a lot of attention on radio with songs such as "Weed" by Singing Melody, "Busted" by Heart Break Club & "Your Day Will Come" b 14 K. He also has production credits on several hot new songs such as "Hold On by Nature for Jamaican football star Ricardo Gardner's Heart Of Love label, "After Hours" by Cha'maine for New York based Coolphya Records & Looking For Love by Patriot for Grass Roots Records.

Sponsors Please Don't Blame It on the Music

Disclaimer :
The opinion of this writer's article is not necessarily the opinion and views of

Letter To The Editor

I grew up seeing guns but never had the desire to use one.

fire_people_jamaica_party.jpgViolent movies are made and viewed regularly. Violent music made in other genres every day.

Now I am not condoning violence in music but on the same note why not boycott violent movies and music (from other genres).

In my view the root problem of violence in society is:

1) Bad or insufficient Parenting
2) Poverty and lack of educational and economical opportunities etc.
3) Lack of Mental strength
4) Lack of proper Governance of the Country

The order from 1-4 is important also.

I was born and raised in Kingston 13 along with my sisters many of my cousins. Only one of my cousins turned out bad and that was because of bad parenting.

I lived near a weekly dancehall session for most of my childhood and adolescent years. I grew up seeing guns but never had the desire to use one. Death was an ever present sight especially in the election time but my relatives and I never partake in the violence.

Most of my high school and university friends came from the deep ghettos and know violence but we never indulged.

All of my friends from High School and University that I am in touch with are doing well economically and in many other ways and I have never heard that they were ever involved in any violent acts.

Most of my relatives, friends and I grew up on violent movies and we watch them even now and listen to Movado, Killer, Ninja, Shaba, Beenie, Kartel, Buju, Capleton (yes Buju and Capleton did a lot of violent songs) etc. even now but we don't commit violent acts.

No 'Stripes' For Sumfest - The Music Has Become Too Violent and Negative

By Secret Agent Writer

redstripe_reggaesumfest.jpgThe local entertainment scene was jolted again yesterday, with news that local alcohol giant Red Stripe has pulled its sponsorship from all live music events.

The company feels that the music at these events has become too negative and too violent for its brand to become associated with.

The company broke the news in a statement yesterday. It said it has pulled sponsorship because of a worrying and negative trend of glorifying violence which has crept into some of the music in recent years.

The two most immediate and large concerts that will feel this blow are annual staples on the Reggae and Dancehall calendar; Reggae Sumfest, which has enjoyed title sponsorship from Red Stripe for years, and Sting, which also benefits from one of the company’s brands.

The company noted that the move was also in response to concerns that have been expressed about this trend by Jamaicans at home and abroad.

According to Red Stripe, the violence described in the music has far-reaching and damaging implications for the industry and for the country as a whole. The company said that it will not be party to this, and as a result has made a difficult decision to withdraw sponsorship from live music events.

The St. Catherine South Police have charged one of the licensed firearm holders. He is Michael Robinson of an address in St. Andrew.

They’ve charged him with three counts of shooting with intent, assault and illegal possession of a firearm. Police sources say he was pointed out in an identification parade yesterday and has since been placed in police custody.

TV Host Assaulted at Reggae All Stars

A TV host and member of the media was assaulted by a security guard and an undercover police officer at Reggae All Stars, a show held on March 29th 2008 in Nassau, Bahamas.

The Tuff Gong show which featured Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Ky-Mani Marley, Anthony B and Tessanne Chin alongside the best Bahamian artistes such as Sammi Starr and Jah Hem was billed as a major highlight in the entertainment calendar for 2008.

Unfortunately a string of organizational problems caused some major problems for the media personnel present and in one case these minor disturbances caused a major violation.

BE TV arrived at the venue with a crew of four and had to be escorted into the venue and the backstage area by the head of security because the promoter did not have press bands available at the venue. The crew informed the promoter and security that the producer would arrive later while the crew was already shooting the first set of performances. When one of the hosts went outside, again informing security that he would only be outside for 5 minutes to pick up the producer, the problems started at the gate separating the VIP area from platinum/ backstage.

UK police escort Naomi Campbell off plane

Naomi_Campbell_sexy.jpgLONDON (Reuters) - British police escorted supermodel Naomi Campbell off a U.S.-bound flight at London's Heathrow airport on Thursday, airport sources said.

"Police were called to remove a passenger from a British Airways flight this afternoon," a spokesman for the British airport authority told Reuters.

Police said they had arrested a passenger on suspicion of assaulting an officer but declined to provide further details.

Airport sources identified the passenger as Campbell who was on a BA flight due to depart for Los Angeles.

Campbell spent five days mopping floors as part of a community service sentence in New York last year and was ordered to attend anger management classes after throwing a mobile phone at her housekeeper during a row over a pair of jeans.

The model has blamed her temper on resentment of her father who abandoned her as a child.

Macka Diamond performing to a sold out audience at Madison Square Garden NYC

By Contributed Article

macka_diamond_femaleartiste_jamaica.jpgNew York, USA: It may have been a soca-laden bill, but that didn't stop the night's sole dancehall performer, local star Macka Diamond from shining at Machel Montano and Friends inside The WaMu Theatre, Madison Square Garden on Friday night.

The night featured two sold-out shows, one beginning at 8:00 pm and the other at 12:00 midnight, which both saw artistes from the region bringing the heat, even as the mostly Caribbean audience (who all churned out US$80 for admission) maxed up the vibe.

Donning a fairy-inspired number with Betsey Johnson appeal - designed by New York's answer to 'Biggie', the well-known 'Goldteeth' of Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn - Macka joined soca 'divette' Patrice Roberts on stage even as the audience erupted to the introductory strains of Hulla Hoop. The 'money goddess' engaged the audience in the fun dance move of the same name, all the while rotating her hips as if the plastic toy were around her waist. In BlackER's absence, the diamond princess found a good understudy for him in Roberts, who joined her on Bun Him.

Break Out Artiste For The Month of April - Delus - Break Out Artiste For The Month of April
You can listen to his song on the Music Player on the Top Right of the website

By: Kon-Vick Writer

Delus is no stranger to the music. Adopting it from the age of 17, he has always been inclined to take on music as a professional career.

Delus, born Delmark St. Aubyn Spence Jr., in Kingston Jamaica, has grown around music. His mother is passionate about music, a sentiment also shared by his father and his younger brother Konshens, who is a fast rising young artiste.

Delus started out in the music business with a group called Sojah, a duo comprising his younger brother Konshens.

After leaving Morant Bay High School, Delus then walked the path several of Reggae’s biggest names walked in the initial stages of their careers. Delus started to hang out at several studios in the corporate area. He soon record his first single titled “Medz Pon Di Corner” on the Cash Flow label with his brother and within weeks it ‘shot’ to number one in Japan.

Delus is persistent and progressive and describes his music as boundless as he lyrically tackles aspects of life that other artistes usually tend to shy away from. He does not consider himself as just a reggae/dancehall artiste but as “an entertainer who does music for all ears to listen”.

According to Delus, it was love that inspired him to do music.

“Well the love of the music and the realization that I have a natural talent in terms of putting music together is what really draws me to it as a profession. I have been learning about music from about 1998, but it was in 2003 that I decided to start taking it professionally," said Delus who's presently in the process working on a deal with Dayne Music Group.
