Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds 2007 tour dates expand

Babyfacephotos-sexygirls-rihanna.jpgKenny “Babyface” Edmonds will return to the road for his first U.S. tour date schedule in years this fall, in support of PLAYLIST. His newest album is the first release on the newly re-launched Mercury Records label, and features his new Top 10 version of James Taylor’s “Fire & Rain.” The U.S. tour has just been expanded to a dozen cities, opening Friday, November 23rd at The Paramount Theater in Oakland, CA, and running to December 14th at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk, VA. Kenny's special guest is Ayo, the critically-acclaimed, International platinum soul singer/songwriter whose U.S. debut CD will be released on Interscope Records on November 20th. Her PBS special, "Live From Monte Carlo", will air in December.

PLAYLIST is the first Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds album devoted (mostly) to cover versions of some of his favorite songs. Building on the success of “Fire & Rain” at the AC and Smooth Jazz radio formats, Edmonds’ original “Not Going Nowhere” recently moved inside the Top 40 at Urban AC.

In addition to another original song, “The Soldier Song,” an evocative elegy in this time of war, PLAYLIST contains definitive new versions of songs from Bob Dylan (“Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door”), Dan Fogelberg (“Longer”), James Taylor (“Shower The People”), Eric Clapton (“Wonderful Tonight”), Bread (“Diary”), Jim Croce (“Time In A Bottle”), and Dave Loggins (“Please Come To Boston”).

Mr. Vegas on the scene to 'Hot It Up' Vegas is generating a lot of heat these days on the dancehall scene. His album, which was recently released titled ‘Hot It Up’, debut at number 11 on the Billboard Reggae album chart. Although it has since fallen off, he is still enjoying great vibes from the album.

The single off it, ‘Hot Wuk’, is very much present on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop chart. It debut at #62 and this week it is now sitting at #58.

Kudos to Vegas on this achievement as it’s a personal best for him. Not even his red hot songs ‘Heads High’ and ‘Hot Gal’ with Sean Paul never made it this far.

The singjay made stops in places such as Miami, New York, Washington, Tampa and Massachusett.

Rihanna takes in Beenie Man, Bounty Killa show

rihanna_beenieman_bountykiller-photos.jpgSINGING SENSATION Rihanna joined several thousand other patrons from late Saturday night into early yesterday morning as they enjoyed some dancehall music from Beenie Man and Bounty Killa.

The striking teen – one of the most visible entertainers on the world stage – mixed easily with other patrons in the VIP section in the Bay Street car park where the event dubbed Ultimate Storm was staged.

Flanked by a team of security officials and pals, she pulled out her digital camera and took pictures of Beenie Man as he performed around 3 a.m.

She looked genuinely awestruck as the "Doctor" gave a taste of his rhythm, rhyme and sleek waistline.

The show was highly anticipated as the two Jamaican dancehall entertainers have had a history
of not usually performing at the same show.

Buju Banton sings controversial tune at music festival

By Iana Seales

buju_banton_girlsbeenieman.jpgIt had all the ingredients of a good show - quality performances, massive support and mostly clean music - but the highly anticipated Guyana Music Festival clearly lacked the core item of local talent, which was in very short supply.

But even that was insufficient to put a damper on things and when the curtains came down at around 3 am yesterday morning, the $3000 that the majority of persons parted with, was exhausted mainly due to one man and a band with a music career much older than three quarters of the huge crowd.

'Gargamel' Buju Banton and Third World rocked the show so hard the vibrations probably shifted a few seats in the Guyana National Stadium. Combined the two powerhouses belted out sounds so sweet and conscious it was difficult to determine the best reggae performance of the night. But the night certainly belonged to the dreadlocked, still very much homophobic Jamaican dancehall star, who had no apologies for his discriminatory lyrics lashing the gay community.

"Buju nah like no batty boy and dem batty boy attack Buju", the singer said to an adulating audience who seemed to have been waiting for that exact moment. And perhaps feeling the vibes of the embracing crowd and the urge to sing his controversial song, "Boom boom bye", the singer belted out a few of the lyrics nearing the close of his performance.

But Buju was not the only performer to have walked that line. Kiprich, another Jamaican star who appeared much earlier in the night also sang out against the gay community and the audience largely enjoyed it.

Rapper T.I. released on $3 million bond

By Rhonda Cook
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

rapper-TI-jailguns.jpgAfter posting a $3 million bond -- covered by two cashier's check and his posh Clayton County property -- rapper T.I. was released from federal custody Friday but he will be a prisoner in his home, with limits on who can visit him, until he is tried on federal gun charges.

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., appeared at his second bond hearing in a week to find out the conditions of his release.

More than the possibility he could flee, U.S. Magistrate Alan Baverman seemed concerned that the rapper or his friends or fans may try to contact witnesses or informants used to bring the federal gun charges against him two weeks ago.

Any contact with witnesses, direct or indirect, is forbidden Braverman told Harris several times during the bond hearing.

"If any threats befall [them]... the court will be looking to you," Baverman said.

"Yes, your honor," Harris said.

"Do you understand that?" Baverman asked Harris after repeating the warning again.

"Yes, your honor," Harris answered from his seat between two of his four high-profile attorneys.

The magistrate said only Harris' lawyers could contact victims, witnesses and informants on his behalf. If anyone else does, Harris could be arrested and he could face additional charges.

Mavado lives up to his promise to 'Connect Jamaica'

In his quest to "try and get a computer and Internet connection into every school in Jamaica," Mavado kept his promise to assist in ensuring all local schools are able to connect to the Internet by donating 2 computers each to Constant Spring All Age and Charlie Smith High School on Tuesday October 22.

"I give thanks to God that I am now in a position to help my country. I gave to Constant Spring Junior High and Charlie Smith first, because I attended those schools myself, but we will be going to schools around the island. Our aim is to cover every school." - Mavado

"We really appreciate this donation. I hope that other entertainers will follow and try and make a difference " - Marva Maylor, Business Basic Coordinator at Constant Spring All Age

"This donation was a surprise because David Brooks did not have a long stay at this institution and for him to remember us is a really good thing." - Mr. Dennis Kelly, Principal of Charlie Smith High School

'D'Angel's Moves Forward' - Lucky Charm

d%27angeldangel_beeniemanwifephotosbarbee.jpgKingston, Jamaica - The recent buzz about what really took place at the Dancehall Diva’s Show at Fayors Entertainment Complex in Mandeville (Jamaica) last weekend, has certainly been another stepping stone for D’Angel to put her best foot forward and move on in more positive ways. The Dancehall Diva did a couple interviews during this week both for the print media as well as for radio listeners and has made it clear that what took place at the show was something orchestrated and was a ploy to destroy her career.

Aside from all the recent pandemonium of media antics, D’Angel has been non-stop working and is remaining positive. She completed the video for her single “Blaze” produced by Arif Cooper for Fresh Ear Productions; it was premiered last week on TVJ’s Entertainment Report (ER) hosted by Anthony Miller in which she was the featured artist.

Jah Cure's first #1 since his release from prison

Jah_Cure_prisonphotos.jpgJah Cure finally seems to be living up to at least some expectation as his song "Sticky" is finally at the # 1 Position on The Hype TV Top 20 Chart. This is his first song to top the charts since his release from prison. Jah Cure's song dropped Busy Signal's "The Day" to the # 2 Position and out raced Cham's "Conscience" for the top spot. Last week Cham was at the number two spot, however this week he descended to the # 3 Position.

There seems to be a serious battle for the top spot, but let's see if Mr. Cure can hold the # 1 position longer than the two weeks reign of Mr. Signal.

This week's 'Shot to Watch' is Ce'Cile's "I'm Waiting" at the # 4 Position. The song seems to be positioning itself for the top as this female seems to be ready to join the males in the fight for the top.

Busy Signal is truly on a roll as he is also 'The Greatest Gainer' this week with "Nah Go A Jail" the song moved three spots up to the # 10 position.

There is not just one but two 'New Entries'. Lady Saw's "Silly Dream" makes its debut at the # 17 Position. The song seems to be off to a good start as it already skipped three spots up the chart.

Daville's "Fling It Up Pon Me" also makes it's debut at the # 19 Position. Let's see how far this song can really go.

Foxy Brown's Temper Gets her 2 1/2 Months in Solitary

foxybrown_prisonjailphotos_sexygirls.jpgBy Juontel White

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 10/24/07- Rapper Foxy Brown received 76 days solitary confinement after a fight broke out between her and another inmate.

“She definitely is in solitary confinement for some infractions that were written up against her,” said Brown’s manager, Chaz Williams according to MTV News.

Brown was sentenced to “punitive segregation” beginning on Oct. 16, after she and another inmate were caught shoving one another.

Rikers Island jail officers separated the two and neither one was injured.

According to jail spokesman Stephen Morello, Brown verbally assaulted prison officials the day after the fight. She also refused to take a random drug test.

These two incidents together increased the length of Brown’s time-out punishment to 76 days while the other inmate involved received 11 days solitary confinement.

Solitary confinement entails that an inmate spend up to 23 hours in isolation with only one hour allotted to see visitors and take part in restricted recreational activities.

Williams said he believes Brown should be in the prison’s general population rather than in solitary confinement, according to MTV News.

He also said prison officials aren’t following proper procedure for Brown’s medical condition, her partial hearing in particular.

Voice Mail Dancehall's secret

The biggest unintentional secret in Dancehall/Reggae music since SNOW is that the fluid sound you hear on tracks recorded by Voice Mail is not the singular range of one singer; but that of a group. Stacked with an abundance of control and timing these three manage to belt out each bar and verse in such harmony that it is easy to be mislead.

It truly takes a skilled ear to initially distinguish the different voices. A shared destiny and ambition has bonded these three singers: Craig Jackson, Kevin Blaire and Oniel Edwards together as one group. Performing as a unit for the last 5 years, the three have remained as the final legacy of Voice Mail. Their debut album Hey was released in January 2006, and has sold over 100,000 copies in Japan certifying it Gold.

The 'Doctor' Beenie Man still has the remedy for dancehall

Beeniemankinggirlsphotosexy.jpgDeejay Beenie Man may be one of the most controversial artistes in the business, but its the controversy that has kept him in the game. Despite this, he is still the 'girls dem sugar' and the 'Doctor;' and has proven that he has the remedy for dancehall - stagecraft.

The artiste performed recently at the Ninjaman and Friends showcase in Miami where he proved his versatility and gave a commanding performance after doing a combination stint that included Sizzla, Ninjaman, Junior Reid and Pinchers.

After assuring the audience that there was no hard feelings between himself and Sizzla after a misunderstanding, 'the doctor' went on to big up Sizzla saying, "Sizzla a mi artiste," to which the crowd erupted in a massive applause.

The females in the venue screamed as he gave them medley after medley of his popular hits songs - past and present. Beenie Man stayed away from his personal life and implored his fans to continue to route for him as he is still the 'king of the dancehall.'

When he exited the stage at minutes past five, ardent fans begged him for more. But, as the saying goes, "all good things must come to an end," and he departed the stage leaving them fully satisfied.

Dancehall artiste Mavado aims to 'Connect Jamaica'

mavado_bountykiller_sexnakedgirls.jpgPopular Dancehall entertainer Mavado launches a new charity: CONNECT JAMAICA to ensure all local schools are able to connect to the Internet.

With the advent of the Internet, the world has become smaller and a lot more accessible for anyone with access to a computer and an Internet connection. The Internet has become an integral part of many people's daily routine around the globe. Access to information, jobs, friends and family abroad, even making visa appointments, is now all much easier through the Internet. The majority of Jamaicans however, do not even have access to a computer, much less the Internet. Mavado wants to help change that.

"We are thinking long term and my aim is to try and get a computer and Internet connection into every school in Jamaica," Mavado announced. "There are hundreds of schools in Jamaica that are in dire need of a computer and access to the Internet. My manager and I had bought some computers recently to give away to some schools, and the idea just snowballed from there."

Snoop Dogg to Perform Community Service for Weapons Violation

By Ray McDonald

Snoop%20Dogg014.jpgSnoop Dogg will pick up trash and perform park maintenance as part of his sentence for carrying an illegal weapon in an airport last year, said authorities in Santa Ana, CA.

The rapper, born Cordozar Calvin Broadus, will do "everything from raking leaves to painting benches" in order to complete his court-ordered 160 hours of community service, according to his attorney, Donald Etra.

Orange County prosecutor Andre Manssourian said the 35-year-old rapper chose the county park site from a list of probation-approved community service sites and will be supervised by a park ranger. A judge approved the community service on October 10. Officials declined to name the park, citing concerns that fans and media could interfere.

No date was provided for Broadus to start or complete his service, his attorney said. Broadus last month pleaded guilty to felony possession of a dangerous weapon. He was arrested September 27, 2006, after the discovery of a collapsible baton in his computer bag at John Wayne International Airport in Orange County. The rapper claimed the baton was a prop for a video he was shooting in New York.

Eve - The First (and Last Remaining) Lady of Hip-Hop

By Margeaux Watson

eve-rappersexy.jpgFrom 1999 to 2002, Eve was on a roll. One of hip-hop's most bankable female MCs, her first three albums sold 4 million copies and spawned five Top 40 hits, including well-received collaborations with Gwen Stefani (''Let Me Blow Ya Mind'') and Alicia Keys (''Gangsta Lovin'''). But after a four-year detour into TV, film, and fashion, the Grammy winner has run into some snags while trying to revive her music career. Her forthcoming CD, Here I Am, was initially due in August but has now been delayed until 2008. Meanwhile, her first two singles off the record have struggled to connect with listeners: ''Tambourine'' peaked at No. 10 on Billboard's Hot Rap Tracks chart on July 14, while its follow-up, ''Give It to You,'' hadn't charted at press time. But despite those setbacks, Eve, 28, tells EW she's still got more skills than a lot of male MC's tallying up record sales in the ''testosterone-driven'' rap game, and that she's going to wait until she's 100 percent confident in her new CD before she lets it drop.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What's going on here? Why so many delays with this album? Are you scrapping the whole thing and starting over?

EVE: No, I'm not completely starting over. I'm definitely gonna keep some of the records that I had because I love a lot of the stuff that I did. So I'm keeping a lot of it. I'm just going back in to kinda make it a well-rounded album. I think what kind of delayed us this time was that I went in and did two records that sound a lot like the Pharrell record - the singing record.... I don't think the movement was right and I'd rather put out an album and feel 100 percent connected to it than just to put out an album, especially the way music is right now.

Busy Signal, Queen Ifrica and Cham holding down the top three spots on Hype TV Top 20 Chart

queenifrica-busysignal-babycham.jpg"Change, changes, changes", that is the word that can best describe the new and exciting movements occurring this week on the chart, as there is a new song occupying the highly coveted # 1 Position, and it is of course Busy Signal's "The Day".

The song terminated Queen Ifrica's premature reign at the top, thus sending her "Below the waist" song down to the # 3 Position. His song "The Day" has also out shined Cham's "Conscience" which only moved one spot up to the # 2 Position. Cham continues to hold the title of being the 'Shot to Watch' as he is clearly in an advantageous position to possibly claim the 'top spot' or will he just surprise us by peaking only at the two position.

In life changes can either be for the good or it can lead to the bad. Busy Signal's change in management as however proven to be a very advantageous and clever move. This is clearly evident as the artist has not only also captured the top spot but he is also one of the 'Greatest Gainers' this week, with his "Nah Go A Jail" song. The song moved three spots up to occupy the # 15 position.

Bugle's "What I'm Gonna Do" is also one of the 'Greatest Gainers' this week, as the song moved three spots up to assume the # 12 Position. Bugle seems to be on a positive mission of moving steadfastly up the chart, but does this song really have the potential for the top.

Those are the main highlights this week on the chart make sure to read next weeks movements of the Hype TV Top 20 Chart, so until then keep safe.

Jah Cure's UK tour Angered Some Women's Rights Groups

By: Kon-Vick Writer

jahcure-uktour-womenrightsgroup.jpgReggae singer Jah Cure made several headlines in the UK between yesterday and today. One such disturbing headline stated - Rape Row as ‘New Bob Marley - gets to understand that this headline had fans murmuring. It is also said to be that fans in the UK hailed Jah Cure as the new Bob Marley, but their new Bob Marley will have to Get Up, Stand Up And Fight For His Right on his tour of the UK coming this October. Jah Cure will face a strong battle from several women’s rights groups in the UK who are not pleased of having the singer in their country.

When contacted Jah Cure’s production team and asked about the situation, the director of Danger Zone Records and Danger Zone Promotions Delmar Drummond said, there’s no such thing about Jah Cure being banned from entering the UK. We applied for a visa earlier but were not successful, but this doesn’t mean that the singer is banned. I don’t know where all these allegations are coming from because we are currently in the process of trying to secure his visa for his October dates.

According to reports - the women’s rights group may not be successful in stopping the shows due to the fact that Jah Cure was not convicted by a jury.

Rihanna's Hate That I Love You Lyrics and video - ft Neo

That’s how much I love you
That’s how much I need you
And I can’t stand ya
Must everything you do make me wanna smile
Can I not like it for awhile
No.. but you won’t let me
You upset me girl, then you kiss my lips
All of a sudden I forget that I was upset
Can’t remember what you did

But I hate it
You know exactly what to do
So that I can’t stay mad at you
For too long, that’s wrong

But, I hate it
You know exactly how to touch
So that I don’t wanna fuss and fight no more
So I despise that I adore you

And I hate how much I love you boy
I can’t stand how much I need you
And I hate how much I love you boy
But I just can’t let you go
And I hate that I love you so..

Mavado's Boys Get Cross...Bottle Broken in Patron's Face

By: Kon-Vick Writer

mavado-movadodeejaydancehall-bountykiller.jpgThe dancehall circuit is awash with reports that hell broke loose at the Heineken Green Synergy on the grounds of Mass Camp last weekend, following an alleged incident in which a reported member of Mavado's alliance broke a bottle in a patron’s face.
Eyewitnesses said the incident resulted in a stampede.

When Mavado graced the stage, the audience gave him a huge welcome that led to females from the audience attempting to pull him off stage. Mavado then went to the front of the stage a second time, and by then, the females were successful in getting the Gangsta Deejay into the crowd. In no time, Mavado was nowhere in sight as the females cuddled him. Within a few seconds, Mavado began shouting on the mic saying,
“Them grab mi chain, wha kind a idiot thing that.”

Lil' Wayne recently spoke about his thoughts concerning the diss from 50 Cent. When asked about 50 making a statement about Weezy jumping on everyone's track, The New Orleans rapper said, "OH MY GAWD! I'M BIG! [sarcastic voice] I'm big, man! I didn't know that dude knew me! What's up 50? I got beaucoup 50 Vitamin Waters. He got the coldest one, the rest of ‘em are really nasty. For real - don't get that Revise - that other purple one. Naaaah, you gotta get that Formula 50. I done been fooled like that plenty of times. 50 got like the best-tasting Vitamin Water."

So does that mean he doesn't have a response? Well, he also went on to say, "A person like 50 Cent (can) say anything about me, you gotta understand, that's what makes them who they are. Gays Cancelled Elephant Man Show Again

By Liz Snell with files from Sydnee Bryant

elephantman-gaysdiddyrihanna-girls.jpgThe show will not go on. The Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) cancelled controversial rapper Elephant Man’s concert, scheduled for Oct. 4 at Capital City Music Hall, after two human rights organizations expressed outrage due to the homophobic content of his lyrics.

Shelley Melanson, CUSA president, said Egale Canada, a queer rights organization, and the Stop the Murder Music Coalition (SMM), an umbrella group that supports gay rights group Jamaicans for Lesbians and Gays, called for the cancellation.

“Because we agree with the merits and motives [of Egale Canada and SMM] we decided to cancel it,” said Melanson, who added she is not happy with the outcome.

Osmel Maynes, CUSA vice-president (external) shared Melanson’s reaction.

“I’m disappointed,” he said.

Maynes said Elephant Man was scheduled to publicly sign the Reggae Compassionate Act, which states artists who sign it will “not make statements or perform songs that incite hatred or violence against anyone from any community,” at a press conference, which would have taken place on campus Oct. 3.

Maynes said Elephant Man was set to denounce his own homophobia and promise to no longer profiteer from his albums that contain offensive lyrics.

He added that Elephant Man has not released songs with homophobic lyrics in more than five years.

Duane Stephenson Inspires A Fairy Tale

Duane_Stephenson_reggaeartistes.jpgKingston, Jamaica: - Duane Stephenson is the bright new sound on the Jamaican reggae music scene. Stephenson formerly of To-Isis is now pursuing a solo career and has just released his first album From August Town on the VP label. The album features mostly new material with a few familiar tracks. The video for Fairy Tale, one of the high quality songs on the album, has just been released.

Fairy Tale is a soothing ode to the struggles of life and is aimed at inspiring the oppressed and disheartened. With good composition and arrangement, thanks to the mastery of reggae icon Dean Fraser, the song is a hit. The video for Fairy Tale directed by Oral Napier featuring Lamont Savary on Acoustic guitar was shot in Kingston and successfully mirrors the message that the song conveys.

According to Duane Fairy Tale is an ode to all who have had to come through struggle. His favourite scene from the video is the shot where a child comes home to his grandmother with a good report card and after some hesitation, due to her own struggles, the grandmother gives the child the adoration and compliments he deserves.

When asked what he would like to achieve with the video for Fairy Tale and the album From August Town, Duane said “I would love for people to sit, watch and listen to good music without violence without hate. Music that fills you with love and hope”

Sexy Duo Brick & Lace Taking it to Another Level With Akon

By: Christopher “Icey Jace” Campbell Writer

Brick and Lace is hot, it’s easy to love the sister duo of Nyanda & Nailah because their style breaks new ground between two great genres, Dancehall and Pop. Sean Paul has the same winning formula but Brick & Lace brings a sexy new dimension to Jamaica’s mainstream culture.

Coping a deal with an established international label like Geffen Records under Akon’s Konline Imprint was also a commendable move that brought new life and a larger audience to the duo. With their first single Never Never keeping good tabs on other young pop stars Brick & Lace opened up and let loose dancehalls favorite dialect patois to the masses. Gracefully accurate Never Never is a fun fusion of dancehall lyrics on a signature Kon Vic beat that’s great for a late night club vibe.

Gays won first round against Elephant Man - Show Cancelled

By: Kon-Vick Writer

elephant_man_badboy.jpgEnergy God Elephant Man is up against a strong battle with the Canadian branch of Stop Murder Music. So far they have been victorious by forcing Charles Khabouth CEO of the Kool Haus venue to pull the plug on Elephant Man in a last minute decision. gets to understand that club owner Charles Khabouth had said in an recent press release that he was unable to cancel Elephant Man’s contract because of what is stated in the contractual agreement.

According to Stop Murder Music, Elephant Man in one song boasts: "Battyman fi dead!/Please mark we word/Gimme tha tech-nine/Shoot dem like bird".

This was enough to have club owner Charles Khabouth to stop the show due to Canada’s hate law which stated; it is illegal to promote hate toward any minority including the LGBT community in speech or print.

According to 365gay the management team of Elephant Man’s Canadian tour quickly reacted on seeking another venue, and if successful – Canadian police said they would be in the audience for the concert and if the singer performed any of the music that has been deemed by civil rights groups as homophobic the reggae artist could be charged under Canada's promotion of hate law.

Rihanna is afraid of nipple slips

Rihanna-sexynipple.jpg( - If there's one thing Rihanna is afraid of, it's nipple slips, according to The Sun. Which is odd, considering she modelled two dresses at the DSquared fashion show that she was nearly falling out of. And also since we've already seen a Rihanna nipple slip .

The Umbrella singer is terrified she will fall victim to the type of wardrobe malfunction that famously afflicted Janet Jackson. She says: "That's the worst thing! You have to go for fittings to make sure the stuff is pretty secure!" And of the skimpy dominatrix outfits she says: "In terms of dress, that's just the way I’m feeling at that particular moment. I'm just dressing how I feel and being more comfortable in my skin. I love dressing up. I always did, even before all this."

What I don't get, though, is that Rihanna is afraid of having a Janet Jackson-style nipple slip. But if I remember correctly, Justin Timberlake ripped off part of Janet's dress, revealing not only her nipple, but her entire breast, and a grotesque sun-shaped nipple ring. Unless Rihanna is hiding her own giant metal nipple accessories, I don't think she has to worry that much.
